BELGIAN beer and chocolate unite
for the ultimate love connection!
Belgian Beer and Chocolate Pairings Explode with Flavor
Middleton, Mass. – (Jan. 21, 2015) – Lovers of beer and chocolate share a magical connection, and now this romance is heating up with a match made in beer heaven. This season Global Beer Network, the exclusive U.S. importer for more than 60 Belgian beers, is recommending beer & chocolate pairings certain to inspire love.
“We put in the hard work to ensure these combinations work deliciously,” said Steve Villani, president of Global Beer Network. “Actually, beer and chocolate complement each other perfectly and these pairings will impress connoisseurs of both!”
Scientists report that chocolate contains tryptophan, a chemical in the brain that is used to produce the neurotransmitter, serotonin. High levels of serotonin stimulate the secretion of endorphins, and produce feelings of elation. Add beer for the perfect romantic combination.
Here are three delicious combinations from our beer flavor team:
· Kasteel Rouge with Milk Chocolate
Kasteel Rouge is often described as a chocolate-covered cherry in a bottle. Brewed with the flavoring of cherry liquor used by Belgian chocolatiers, the velvet-like body of this Belgian dark ale harmonizes with the creamy milk chocolate.
· Kasteel Rouge with Pralines or Salted Caramel
This silky brew rounds out the salty high notes in caramels and softens the texture of pralines. Hazelnuts or pecans showcase the high-malt profile of the beer.
· St. Louis Framboise with Dark Chocolate
The explosive aroma of fresh-picked raspberries in St. Louis Framboise and its fruity sour notes provide the perfect contrast to a decadent bitter dark chocolate.
About the beers:
Kasteel Rouge: is the #1 selling beer of Brewery Van Honsebrouck. This fruit beer has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 8 percent and is created by blending Kasteel Donker with the flavoring of cherry liquor that is typically used for a specialty chocolate and confectionery in Belgium. This brew is available in 11.2 oz. and 25.4 oz. (750 ml) bottles, and on tap at select pubs and restaurants.
St. Louis Framboise:, also from Brewery Van Honsebrouck, has the market-fresh taste of ripened ruby raspberries without being overtly sour or sickly sweet. This fruit beer has an ABV of 2.9 percent and is available in 12.7 oz. and 25.4 oz. (750 ml) bottles, and on tap at select pubs and restaurants.
